From Barbados to Maryland: Archangels Ink Opens First Location in Hyattsville

SUMMARY
What started as a Barbados stay has come full circle into a powerful new chapter of Caribbean-connected entrepreneurship. One of our very first Barbados Experience guests has officially opened Archangels Ink, a Black woman-owned tattoo studio located in Hyattsville, Maryland, bringing premium artistry, intention, and community into a space that’s often underserved.
After spending time in Barbados months ago — where we first connected and captured photos together — she’s now launched her own brick-and-mortar studio in the DMV area, creating opportunities not just for herself, but for other tattoo artists as well.

THE STORY

Archangels Ink isn’t just another tattoo shop. It’s a carefully built creative space led by a Black woman who understands both the artistic and cultural importance of ownership, representation, and quality.
The studio officially opens with:
  • Three resident tattoo artists currently available for booking
  • Premium tattoo services offered directly by the owner
  • A focus on professionalism, clean aesthetics, and intentional design
From Caribbean roots and connections to U.S. business ownership, this is a reminder that the Caribbean diaspora continues to build globally — quietly and confidently.

WHY THIS MATTERS
Black woman ownership in tattooing is still rare, especially at the studio-ownership level. Archangels Ink adds:
  • Representation
  • Opportunity for artists
  • A safe, professional space for clients
  • A blueprint for creative entrepreneurship
It’s also a testament to how travel, cultural exchange, and relationships can spark long-term impact.
